Users Demand Metro CDMX Renovation Amid Delays

Users of the Metro in Mexico City express their frustration over long waits and overcrowding on several lines of the system. In particular, lines 3, 7, A, and B report waiting times of more than 7 minutes according to a STC report at 7:00 AM.

Passengers are calling for the remodeling of the Metro lines to improve service, although they fear that renovation work may affect their daily commutes. Despite this, the Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, announced that the remodeling work on Line 3 will not take place until 2026, assuring that no stations on this line will be closed during 2025.

Users report crowded platforms on Line 3 heading to Universidad and toward Indios Verdes, with delays of up to 20 minutes at each station. They complain about the frequency of interruptions and the inefficiency of the service.

Additionally, Line 7 is experiencing full platforms, with users expressing their indignation at the lack of space and service delays. There were even passengers evacuated from a train at the Constituyentes station, although the Metro CDMX assured that the situation was due to the inspection of a train, which caused slow movement but promised to normalize the service soon.

Clara Brugada explained that the rehabilitation of Line 3 will be carried out at night to avoid affecting users, and that technical studies are being conducted prior to the work. A first phase of maintenance is expected in the workshops, specifically at the terminal station Universidad, while the remodeling of Line 1 is expected to be completed in the coming months to benefit users of the 'pink line'.
